RAI OFFICE BUILDING

This office building is a two-level, 12,000-square-foot space that houses the electrical engineering team responsible for many of the wind turbines in the nation. The rolling hills of the Palouse inspired the unique roofline and features bow-string trusses. The U-shaped floor plan was specifically chosen to serve as the base of a three-phase building expansion. The open office space enjoys panoramic views of the Palouse from almost every angle and hosts a training center for customers and fellow engineers. The building not only consists of office spaces, but an exercise center for employees, full kitchen, dining space, conference rooms, full garage, and electronics lab and testing center. The building features a dynamic electrochromic glazing throughout, a large solar array for harvesting solar energy, an electric car charging station, a variable refrigerant volume HVAC system unique to this area, LED lighting throughout, and the building surpasses the Washington State Energy Code requirements by more than 5%.
