ORION HIGH SCHOOL
Design West was selected to design this new choice high school, emulating the previous multi-district STEM high school DWA completed for the three major Tri-Cities school districts. The facility is 65,000 square feet, accommodates 600 students, and is located on a 12.5-acre site. The innovative program enables students to graduate with hands-on experience and certification or credentials in two areas of focus: health and human sciences, along with engineering and manufacturing. The classrooms and lab spaces throughout the school were designed for these areas of focus and space flexibility, with instructors and students rotating to various program spaces depending on the project being completed. Collaboration for the school’s design involved input from business and industry leaders, teachers, and students.
