JOINT APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING CENTER
This new two-story, 26,000-square-foot building is located on 1.5 acres and is an on-the-job training center for apprentices and journey-level electricians in the electrical profession. The facility provides basic training for commercial, residential, industrial, and specialized systems in the electrical field as well as instruction in the theories of electrical science through its apprenticeship program. The center is run under the IBEW Local Union 112, which covers eight counties in southeast Washington and eight counties in northeast Oregon. To help reduce operational costs and overall life cycle costs for the center, the design team and the owner group opted for efficient building systems including VRF heating and cooling, and planning for future solar panels.
