FALCON RIDGE & WARHAWK ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

These sister schools were designed and constructed simultaneously and opened on the same day. Both schools are single-story facilities with 36 standard classrooms designed to serve approximately 800 students. They are both updated and modified versions of a prototype elementary designed by DWA, which was used to complete four other schools in the Vallivue School District. The campuses feature a media center, cafeteria, and a flexible indoor gym/auditorium with a folding sound wall between the stage and gym to sound-isolate the music classroom. HVAC and lighting systems are controlled by owner-programmable automation, and the schools provide an environment that can be controlled easily through secure main entries, fewer additional points of entry, and lockdown features. The buildings can also be sectioned off to allow for after-hours use without granting access to wandering patrons. Thoughtfully designed outdoor amenities include secure pre-K playgrounds, inclusive play equipment, and asphalt walking and jogging paths.
