ROYAL INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

Design West has completed several projects with Royal School District, including the new Royal Intermediate School. This project converted an existing elementary school “pod” that consisted of six classrooms, into a new school for grades 4-6 with the addition of approximately 42,000 square feet. The new building includes 14 classrooms, computer lab, media center, cafeteria, kitchen, and a full-size gym with bleacher seating for the entire student body. The administration area is positioned as a security access control point while enhancing the main entrance to the school with natural daylight, covered exterior area, and student waiting area. A separate Events Entry allows community access to the gym and cafeteria while limiting access to the rest of the school. This provides the public to utilize the school after hours for sports practice and events.
