COLFAX HIGH SCHOOL RENOVATION

This 90,000 square-foot, two-story high school building, originally constructed in 1952, was renovated from top to bottom. Since the building houses both high school and junior high students, the classroom wings were designed to keep the age groups separated and includes separate lounge spaces for each. The main entry and administration suite were redesigned to include 100% visibility in the vestibule with emergency door controls and newly implemented safety measures to control entry to the school. The existing auditorium received all new finishes, seating, theatrical lighting, stage rigging, curtaining, a fly pipe lighting extension that descends from the ceiling cavity, and an all new sound system. The gym was renovated and the weight room was moved to the second floor loft space, separated by a glass wall that proudly announces ‘BULLDOGS’ live here. An all new counseling center and community gathering space were designed and inserted into the second floor to provide overflow circulation on nights when the community gathers for performance and sporting events.
