1912 CENTER HISTORIC RENOVATIONS
This project is a multi-phased historic renovation and adaptive reuse of the original 1912 Moscow High School building, a fine example of classical revival architecture on the National Historic Register. The building, now referred to as the 1912 Center, is programmed to house a community center, senior center, arts program, a center for developmentally disabled adults, as well as a commercial teaching kitchen. Phase 1 converted the dark basement gym into a community center with a commercial kitchen, serving areas, restrooms, and other support spaces necessary for the many programs taking place. The scope of work included a new roof with insulation, a comprehensive structural upgrade, new elevator shaft, electrical service, fire alarm, and fire sprinklers. Phase 2 converted one classroom into a senior center with a craft area, computer lab, game tables, and conversation areas. Another classroom was re-purposed to serve as a meeting area for Moscow’s developmentally disabled community. This phase also included new ADA restrooms and the completion of a 4-stop elevator.
