CONNELL LIBRARY BRANCH IMPROVEMENTS

This library’s original brick building was constructed in the 1950s, previously serving as Connell City Hall, fire department, and police department headquarters, and needed to be brought up to current building codes and accessibility requirements. The overall library is approximately 1,800 square feet and includes a staff break room, storage room, and restroom, along with general library space for group areas, book circulation, and research CPU terminals. The project also included replacing aged windows, updating all interior finishes, and the building was only closed to the public for 45 days during construction.

Owner: Mid-Columbia Libraries
Locations: Connell, WA
Scope: Renovation

Design West Architects met with us onsite as well as virtually many times throughout the project to understand our vision and provide designs to meet our needs. They worked collaboratively with library staff, as well as the general contractor, to not only update, but transform the library space. Communication between our team and DWA flowed well and we received prompt responses to all of our questions. DWA’s responsiveness and attention to detail allowed us to feel confident about the project timeline and scheduled completion date.
